From books to the bedside: How WWHS continues to strengthen global healthcare

Nov. 17, 2025

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Worldwide HealthStaff Solutions (WWHS), a leader in global workforce solutions, is recognizing the continuing impact of its partnership with Books For Africa. As part of the company’s larger mission to improve lives worldwide, WWHS has helped deliver more than 100,000 books to schools and universities across the African continent.

The most recent shipment, delivered earlier this year, included more than 40,000 nursing and medical textbooks distributed to the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in Nairobi. The donation supports healthcare education and helps prepare the next generation of nurses and medical professionals.

This continuing effort earned special recognition from H.E. Chibamba Kanyama, Ambassador of Zambia to the United States, who commended WWHS for its steadfast support of education and literacy initiatives throughout Africa. In a letter of gratitude, Ambassador Kanyama wrote that WWHS’s dedication “serves as a beacon of hope for countless children and adults striving for a better tomorrow.”

“Connecting talented healthcare professionals with opportunity has always been at the core of our mission,” said Louis Brownstone, President of WWHS. “We believe investing in education is an essential part of building a stronger, more equitable global workforce. Every book we send represents a tool for learning, empowerment, and connection.”

Through its collaboration with Books For Africa, WWHS helps match surplus educational materials from U.S. publishers and schools with institutions in need. Since 2022, WWHS has partnered with Books For Africa to donate more than 100,000 nursing textbooks to parts of Africa, including Kenya, Ghana, Ethiopia, and Malawi. Each shipment (often tens of thousands of books) supports the creation and expansion of libraries, nursing programs, and medical schools across multiple countries.

“Our goal is to ensure that access to knowledge extends beyond borders,” Brownstone added. “When we invest in education, we’re not only preparing clinicians for success abroad — we’re strengthening the communities they come from.”

As WWHS continues to champion global workforce development, this initiative highlights the company’s deep commitment to ethical recruitment, educational access, and sustainable international partnerships.
