Princess Nunag

RN

Princess Nunag had previously worked as a staff nurse at Amana Healthcare Medical and Rehabilitation Hospital in Abu Dhabi, UAE before she applied with WWHSS. Princess says that the primary reason she chose WWHSS was because “it's a direct hire recruitment company. So, the application process was not difficult, and they also take into consideration when you are a family who wants to go to the US together.”

Princess began her immigration journey to the United States with her husband and daughter shortly after she interviewed for a RN position with a leading healthcare and rehabilitation employer located in Rock Hill, SC. She describes the journey as a process that flowed smoothly.

“I only paused for some time in the process after I gave birth,” explained Princess. “Then it was the pandemic which affected the speed of processing. But, it was worth the wait.”

Princess and her family arrived in the U.S. in April 2022. While it was exciting to move to a new country, the transition and adjustment did take some time. Princess mentions “We appreciated the nature in the new place – Rock Hill, SC. Having been provided temporary accommodation while we looked for an apartment was really a huge help for us as a family. The challenge was waiting for the availability of cars as the family cars were always out of stock. Later on, we found a nice place to move where we met new Filipino friends who helped us out in the transition. Overall, adjusting to a new place was not that hard for us as we had already worked overseas before.”

Princess began working at her new employer in July and mentions that it can be overwhelming at first adjusting to a new workplace and routine. However, she is glad that her new healthcare employer management and work colleagues are supportive.

“My favorite part of my work is when the patients make you feel appreciated and respected. I also like it when you see their progress in the course of their rehab stay.”

Princess would like to share advice to fellow foreign nurses who may be considering immigrating to the U.S. to work as a healthcare professional. “Be prepared with your expenses as you won't be starting work right away since you have to wait for SSN and license endorsement. Do not always focus on other states with high salary offers especially for starters. It helps to live in a low cost of living state in the beginning. Overall, there are a lot of opportunities in the US.”
