Maria Mendoza

RN

Working first in the Philippines as a registered nurse, then as an enrolled nurse at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital in Singapore, Maria Mendoza began her immigration journey to the USA after passing the NCLEX-RN exam in February 2020 and being introduced to WorldWide HealthStaff Solutions by a fellow nurse friend who was working in Washington state. Maria applied to WWHSS and interviewed for a registered nurse position and signed a contract in July 2020 with Bon Secours Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center located in Toledo, Ohio.

Maria and her family began their immigration process during the beginning of the pandemic. Even with the disruptions caused by the pandemic, Maria says that the immigration journey for her and her family was smooth and well-timed working with WWHSS. They patiently waited for their embassy interview date in October 2021 in the Singapore U.S. embassy. Maria and her husband had their visas approved first before their daughter because she was in the Philippines with her grandparents. There was no way for their daughter to travel to Singapore due to travel restrictions. Maria’s daughter had to transfer her case to the Philippines U.S. embassy, and she received her visa in March 2022. Maria and her husband arrived in the United States in February 2022 followed by their daughter in May 2022.

Maria credits her Case Manager, Mrs. Stephanie Tucker, who helped her throughout the immigration process. Upon her and her husband’s arrival in the USA, they experienced a winter snowstorm. Maria describes her experience, “We enjoyed each day because we loved cold weather. Before traveling in the USA, I read and researched, although it was still different from our firsthand experience.”

Now working as a RN at Bon Secours Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center, Maria describes her current work environment, “I love and enjoy my new unit and colleagues. They really helped me to learn all the things I needed. People in our place are warm, kind and approachable. ‘Team player’ and ‘compassion’ are the best words I can use to describe our night shift nurses.”

Maria provides her top reasons why she recommends WWHSS:

  1. WWHSS provides different choices of healthcare employers and opportunities in different states.
  2. WWHSS processed our application fast.
  3. WWHSS will prepare you for the transition and will notify you every step of the immigration.
  4. WWHSS provides a guided immigration journey roadmap that allow applicants to prepare all the civil documents they need before it happens.
  5. WWHSS offers direct hire recruitment by the healthcare employer which is why they offer better rates.
