Manitha Barboza

Dialysis RN

Originally from India, Manitha Barboza had accumulated a wealth of experience in kidney care starting as an RN and later being promoted to a charge nurse. Manitha lived and worked in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates for nearly a decade when her long-standing dream of coming to the United States unexpectedly came true.

Having extended family close by and raising her two children in Abu Dhabi, Manitha was comfortable and content with her job before she decided to start her application with WWHSS.
"I was not sure if I was completely ready for the change, nor was my family, yet we decided to pursue it."

Manitha was ready for a long and daunting immigration process but was happily surprised when her immigration journey was nothing like she had imagined it to be.

"It was easier than I had imagined, maybe because I had my support system, which is my family, who immigrated with me. WWHSS and its employees made a lot of immigration steps easy and less stressful. I was followed up every now and then and received a lot of support."
She arrived in the U.S. with her family in September 2021 but had not yet started as a dialysis nurse in Savannah, Georgia until the beginning of 2022. Manitha was ready to jump into work, but her start date was postponed due to a licensure evaluation, giving her and her family 3 months to adjust to the new country.

"I took the time off to enjoy myself with my family, and I am glad I had this time off."

Manitha’s example shows that even an easy immigration process can have its challenges. The unexpected turns in Manitha’s journey made her embrace the change, be patient, make new friends, and reflect on the immense opportunities in the new place.

Even though Manitha had to adjust to her first workday, she felt "empowered right from the beginning" as DaVita staff members gave her training and support as a new employee.

"I was able to go home feeling like I made a difference in my patients’ lives."

"I immigrated at the least expected time, I am still trying to adjust to the culture and work environment, but my kids love it here already. The locals here are kind and receptive. I met many wonderful people willing to help me even when they met me for the first time. The best part of America as it is known is there are plenty of opportunities for growth and development and I am hoping to use them for my professional growth.”

Manitha wants to reassure her fellow nurses as they apply with WWHSS that they are “in great hands and [they] have nothing to worry about.”

“If you have already chosen WorldWide, you are right where you should be and you will do great, and if you have not chosen them yet, this is the time to decide.”
